Trawling is where No Objections and Fishing are used together,
leading to the decision E-mail. This means that the total time to
eventually come to a decision can easily be a month. At least one week
for each No-Objections and two weeks for fishing. We will know that by
the end of it everyone will have had a chance to
have their say. The whole process looks like this.

- A well thought out Project
is put forward including who is going to do it.
- Discussion commences and criticisms are addressed.
- A call for objections is made. If there are No Objections the
Project and the work is passed to EdLUG(Outreach).
- If there are objections then it stays in the list for further
discussion.
- A second call for objections is called after the initial
objections have been addressed.
- If there are No Objections the
Project and the work is passed to EdLUG(Outreach).
- If there are further objections then the process of discussion
and objections are repeated unless it is obvious it has no support.
- If a stalemate occurs and it looks like turning nasty then a
Fishing vote is called.
- The Fishing vote is the final word and should be respected if the
project is passed or rejected.
- If the project is passed at any stage, EdLUG(Outreach) members
will
have read
all the discussions and had ample time to lodge
objections, therefore they will not need a vote. For the sake of
procedure they have one
week to call for a vote within the group. If no vote is called before
that time then the
project is passed and receives EdLUG(Outreach) approval.
There are only two times when EdLUG (Outreach) Officers are not
allowed to call for a vote. Nomination of EdLUG(Outreach) officers and
the dissolving of EdLUG(Outreach).
