An e-mail is sent to the list asking if there are No Objections to a proposal.

Here is an example

TO: EdLUG
FROM: Someone on the List
SUBJECT:OBJECTIONS Name Change

If there are no Objections: I propose that Edinburgh Linux Users Group's name is changed to GNU/Linux Users Group for Edinburgh (GLUGE)

A Decision E-mail will be sent out two weeks from the date of this posting to confirm the proposal if there are No Objections

Here is a second example of a less controversial subject.

TO: EdLUG
FROM: Someone on the List
SUBJECT:OBJECTIONS Badges Auction

If there are no Objections: I propose that we hold an auction to raise money so that we can have some EdLUG Name badges made.

A Decision E-mail will be sent out two weeks from the date of this posting to confirm the proposal if there are No Objections

In the first example a proposal is put forward to change the name of EdLUG. This has actually been put forward to the list before and was rejected. The point is that there would be objections to this proposal. In the second example a proposal is used to raise funds by auction and use the money to have some EdLUG name badges made. If no one objects within a week then the proposal is accepted. An e-mail should be sent out by the original proposer confirming the decision. If there are objections then these need to be addressed before the proposal can get acceptance. Another No Objections e-mail can be sent out once the original discussion has been resolved. If there are a lot of objections the proposal can be dropped.
