This is a short History of how EdLUG and EdLUG(Outreach) came into
being.
The
Idea was first suggested by Rob McCron(1963-2000) on 3rd March 1998
The First Meeting was then Scheduled for 1st April
There were rough minutes of the meeting including some of the original
members who you may recognise
It was at this meeting that it was decided that EdLUG should not have a
constitution a temporary Convenor was elected and this became the first
Penguin Wrangler. A place to host the Mailing list was offered by
Edinburgh University due to the large number of University Staff and
students that were attending. It was also decided that the Second
meeting should be held on the first thursday of every month at the
Holyrood Tavern.
First Install fest organised by Peter George of Net Resources on 23
November 2002
In Febuary 2004 a very heated discussion concerning the EdLUG
constitution, voting, membership started on the list.

After slow and careful consideration and discussion the EdLUG
(Outreach) website was constructed being completed in January 2005
